The town is a short drive into the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales it is the perfect location for lovers of the outdoors with walks available from your front door and it is a great area for cyclists too with lots of cycle tracks and routes in the area. The first week in September the town hosts a Victorian Fair which has a real street vibe and there is a market held every Thursday in the town square with some lovely local produce on offer.
