Children and adults will love exploring dramatic Dunvegan Castle (29 miles) and its gorgeous gardens and there are plenty of outdoor activities to try from abseiling to kayaking Whitewave Skye s outdoor centre based at Kilmuir (28 miles) has activities suitable for all ages and abilities. Keen walkers will enjoy some superb routes including the famous Old Man of Storr (20 miles) and also the Quiraing (9.5 miles) a spectacular circular walk of 6.8 miles of dramatic scenery. Head to pretty Portree (14.5 miles) the island capital and enjoy a stroll around the shops and cafes or head down to the harbour from where a number of boat trips are available to go and spot the impressive local wildlife from dolphins and seals to white-tailed eagles and puffins.
