Hawkshead is one of the region s most popular villages thanks to its associations with writers Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. The Beatrix Potter Gallery is here with its changing exhibitions about the author and her work whilst visitors can take a look inside the historic Grammar School where Wordsworth was once a pupil. Lake Windermere is just five miles to the east of the property whilst Coniston Water is around the same distance to the west.
