Taking the short walk to the village quay in Appledore visitors will find fishing boats returning with their catch of the day which provide the village s restaurants with fresh fish. A ferry runs across the estuary of the River Torridge to the neighbouring village of Instow with its yacht club beach and interesting craft workshops. Just a few minutes drive away is the seaside town of Westward Ho! where there is an impressive two-mile wide sandy beach backed by the sand dunes of Northam Burrows Country Park.
