Just outside the town you can catch a train on the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway one of the most scenic routes in the country. Heading into the Yorkshire Dales walkers can head to the famous three peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (4 miles) Ingleborough (16 miles) and Whernside (20 miles) or you could head to Malham Cove (6.5 miles) or Bolton Abbey (25 miles).
