A few miles in the other direction is the pretty town of Kirkbymoorside (also 2.5 miles) and vibrant market towns like Pickering (10 miles) and Helmsley (8 miles) both with an abundance of good restaurants tearooms and independent shops. Beyond the village lies the glorious sight of the North York Moors with heather-covered hills ancient woodlands and beautiful rivers. The Yorkshire coast is about thirty miles away or you could head inland to Castle Howard (15 miles) or the North Riding Forest Park (17.5 miles).
