The 17th-century cottage is located on a farm at the end of a no-through road in tranquil Merstone. This is wonderful walking country footpaths lead alongside the River Yar and to the nearby picturesque village of Godshill where the local pub serves food and local ales. You are free to stroll across the farm s fields and around its lovely lake; a grassy area close to the water is a prime spot for a BBQ. A farm nature trail offers the chance to see wildlife including herons geese pheasants chickens and even a rare-breed bagot goat that will eat from the hand. The east coast resorts of Shanklin and Sandown are only a short drive away. Step through the entrance and you ll immediately see that this is a property brimful of character with flagstone floors a large inglenook feature fireplace and attractive staircase leading up to a pretty galleried landing. The ground floor lounge/diner is an open-plan space furnished with a comfortable sofa and armchairs a TV/DVD plus that fabulous feature fireplace. On the other side of the room you will find a table and four chairs. At the front of the cottage there is a pretty walled courtyard with garden furniture while a small gate opens into a fenced garden comprising lawns and shrubs. Visitors can make arrangements to fish the lakes in the grounds of the Manor House. There is space for two cars to park in the cottage s private drive.
