There are plenty of walks allowing you to explore the surrounding fells or discover quaint villages and hamlets. Nearby is s Simpson Ground Tarn a beautiful reservoir within small woodland which is perfect for a walk and picnic. A short car ride brings you to the foot of Lake Windermere and the River Leven where you will find numerous picturesque villages and Fell Foot Park. Here there are gardens a cafe fishing jetties for mooring and hiring rowing and sailing boats and the Lakeside ferry crossing. At Lakeside is the steam railway terminus and the Lakeland Aquarium. Nearby is the Lakeland Motor Museum. Head south onto the Cartmel Peninsula and follow the winding country lanes leading to the Victorian seaside town of Grange-over-Sands and Morecombe Bay beyond. A stone gateway leads you up a little path to the porch. Stepping into the lounge you will find yourself in a room soaked in atmosphere. Oak panelled walls reflect the glow from the wood burner with plenty of comfy seating and a timbered ceiling. By day the sunbeams stream through the bay window; by night with the lamps turned low the fire roaring it is the perfect place to chat or watch a Netflix blockbuster on the Smart TV.
