One of the lesser known lakes in the region Esthwaite Water is no less beautiful and was in fact Beatrix Potter s favourite lake in the region. Visitors can enjoy scenic walks around the edge of the lake try their luck at fishing or even take a specialist osprey safari boat trip. Just one mile from the property is the village of Hawkshead which has a choice of interesting shops and pubs and a number of interesting National Trust properties including the Beatrix Potter Gallery.
